SwedishChef Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 OK, I've changed line manager to our Vice Principle, one of the things we are discussing is a ICT Support departmental review, and what it would entail. Does anyone have reviews of their departments by SLT and if so what do you look at ?
garethEds Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 One of the best methods of reviewing your department would be to follow the questions outlined in the NAACE (old BECTA) Self Review Framework - it provides you with an excellent set of questions upon which you can benchmark your department. We are in the process of appying for the ICT Mark. Do not however underestimate the work it takes to complete the form. However once it is done then a quick review each year should be easier. It also fits in with the Common Inspection Framework used by OFSTED and ESTYN. If it's all there in the SRF document then you do not need to have inspectors chasing you for information. Just present the document to your Headteacher/Line Manager. Another point - the SRF is meant to be a whole school approach. Naace SRF: Welcome to the Self-review Framework (SRF) Once we have gone through the process I would be happy to send you our document/pdf report but would like to wait. Maybe others have theirs that they would be willing to share. Best wishes Gareth 1
Gibbo Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Its just an extension of your annual or three or five year plans - what your goals for improvement are, what's needed to achieve them, a progress update part way through and then a final outcome review, lessons learnt etc. I've just typed "department improvement plan" into Google and it brought back this document, which seems a good place to get you started: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDQQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cantonian.cardiff.sch.uk%2F~webchs%2FMAH%2FDepartment_Improve_Plan.doc&ei=YZ32UKXOH86ZhQe-tIDICw&usg=AFQjCNFZIw6u_usgml4O6w322d4f784QiQ&sig2=ef3pSBosCyTlxGF1VOY6-A&bvm=bv.41018144,d.ZG4&cad=rja Each teaching department should have one, so there should be layouts and templates that your school already uses to follow. SwedishChef Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Cheers Gibbo, this is great. we already have a plan. I supose I had not considered linking the review to the plan which progress is reviewed seperately on.
