Errr, I can use the internet without proxy info in the browser?

I've not asked the SWGFL for the transparent proxy. (didn't need it) I've noticed this just today on my win8 and win7 machines. I cleared the proxy settings (was testing DA on windows 8 only!) and my PCs can surf the web. The login.staffproxy does not work. (without the staffproxy being specified)

 

How do i discover what proxy server I'm using without looking inside IE?

 

This is brand new behaviour anyone getting this?

Update: Youtube works but facebook does not. The swgfl admin filtering page is not accessable.

 

I'm told that the transparent proxy would obey my filter settings, so it's not likely to be that?

If the proxy you are going through is being nice it should identify itself on the HTTP headers it sends to websites. Therefore you can inspect the headers on special websites setup to tell you what you're asking of them.

I do wish SWGFL would stop playing with things without telling people.... Im all for developments, dont get me wrong - but its back to the old consult users, and keeping us informed with maintenance etc.

Um - I am in two swgfl schools and have heard nothing about the transparent proxy. What did I miss?
