[sims] Sims reports + chrome

anybody else having problems opening sims reports (reports that output to a web browser directly) in chrome.

 

we have just moved over to chrome and are haveing some problems this possiblly being the bigest one is there somthing i need to change as the reports work fine in ie

 

or how can i have sims use ie but everything else use chrome?

I switched over a long time ago and never had an issue. So long as it's the default. Does it still ask you if you want it to be default? If that pop-up is not suppressed it might stop the reports. Edited February 3, 2016 by vikpaw

i know this is waaay old but is anyone having a problem with this still or solved it?

 

I open SIMS reports in Chrome and get the field headers but no data!

I haven't had this issue personally but my hunch is that the problem is Chrome blocking the data rather than SIMS not sending it. Try adjusting the Privacy settings in Chrome| Settings. I'm not sure exactly how SIMS puts the data in - Java maybe? Let us know if you sort it!

Thanks for your reply. The .htm file is trying to call a .csv for the data. I've tried lowering the security and other settings that I can think of.

Does SIMS give you other output options? ie is there a way to check that the data is coming out of the report OK and that this really is a chrome problem not a SIMS one?

So the same report and file opens perfect in Internet Explorer!

Is this a standard report? Can you let us know which one?

 

We run chrome here and reports open fine straight into chrome, it really smells like a configuration setting in chrome being overzealous on your system.

Yeah that was my feeling. So if I go to Reports > Run Report > Focus > Staff > Capita Staff Data Sheet and run that to a webpage I get the headings but not the data!

I'm not sure if it helps, but we had to open up the macro permissions in the Office Trust Center to get some reports working correctly.

So it turns out that Capita are aware of the issue and it doesn't happen with standard reports only ones that generate a .htm file. So I made a GPO to set .htm files to open with IE.

 

p.s. they have no intention of fixing this unless we all start requesting a 'change request' via the SIMS website.

That must be a recent thing because all the built-in attendance reports go to a webpage , which I thought was a .htm file. Never had a problem in the past.
