Ranger/ windows 7 desktop settings

Just a quickie,

 

In ranger and XP you could disable students from deleting and desktop icons.

 

I cant seam to find the setting in the windows 7 tab. I dont want to disable right click if possible as they use that in word etc.

In a vanilla setup, you'd make the share where desktop icons are located read only. This means pupils cannot delete icons. I suspect it's the same/similar with Ranger.

the easiest way is redirect the desktop to a location they only have read only access to.

 

if they need write access to the desktop just use gpp to place icons there worst case they delete them at policy refresh/logon it should recreate them anyway (and iirc you can deploy icons with gpp that have the read only flag ticked making it a bit harder to delete)
