plexer Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Does anyone have a spare 940-0020B simple signalling cable lying around? Thanks, Ben
starscream Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Is that the serial data cable to connect an APC UPS to a server?
plexer Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 It's one of those yes. There are 2 types a smart one which you normally get with a ups and a simple one. The port expanders etc... use simple signalling and I forgot to buy one. Ben
starscream Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I'll have a look, we have two here than are like 3 years old and we're moving to a new site so I think they're gonna be binned. The batteries are shot I think though thus freeing up the cables. Hang on...
maniac Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Make sure you get the right cable, if you use a 'standard' serial cable, it will turn the UPS off with no warning! Learnt that one tha hard way! Mike.
plexer Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Yup hence why I specified the part number which will be stamped on one end. A simple ups cable should also be grey. Ben
craiglay Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I will keep an eye out in my schools... May even be able to drop it into you Craig
contink Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 You've just reminded me about one of the items on my to-do list.. Anyone got a supplier for APC cables like this... I've had a heck of a time finding any..
plexer Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 APC have them listed. If you need a smart signalling cable then let me know as I have several of those spare. Ben
contink Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 If you need a smart signalling cable then let me know as I have several of those spare. I need two serial cables for the Smart 1400 and 1500 model UPS's so if you do have spares that'd be a big help..
