Fibre Optic Cable Termination Kit

Hi there,

 

can anyone please recommend me a fibre cable termination kit.

 

We're got around £500 to spend so some sort of kit and a tester would be good.

Might be better to get someone in to do it. I know they can cost a lot more than £500.

£500 won't even buy you the tester to validate and certify fibre nevermind install it too.

Much easier to get a kit that doesn't require you to spend ages polishing and epoxying connectors.

 

We have a kit like this (expensive but worth it. No epoxy or polishing required!): AMP Lightcrimp Plus Termination Kit

 

Once you have the fibre all prepared each crimp only takes a few minutes

I'd definitely +1 this. It cuts the amount of time down massively, they are well worth the extra money unless you want to spend hours polishing!

Thanks for the prompt responses. I have just been to the Bursar with a printout of this post and he has agreed to up the budget so that we can afford something like the Lightcrimp.

Its bot as simple as just termination.. you need to clean it too. We deal in fiber optics it's who we are and what we do... and we have had brand new cable and when we've looked at it under the right equipment the stuff needs thoroughly cleaning, so you'll need a cleaning kit also. I think they are like a cleaning roller... I'm snot sure as it's not my department but every time I here the word "fiber" around here I hear the word "Clean" also.

It's usually just a case of lint free wipes, Isopropyl alcohol and a microscope.
