Hi,

I wanted to get a feed back from you guys on what you think is best. We have a Windows Server 2008 server and want to deploy a Windows 7 to two sets of laptops and one pcs. The ones im trying to decide on is wether to use Microsoft Deployment Tool kit, SmartDeployment, or Acronis Snap Deploy. What you guys think is best? What are advantages/disadvantages? Thanks for your feed backs.

I use WDS and MDT 2010, I have not made the jump to 2012 yet, it is supposed to be better. I have not used the other two you mention.

WDs / MDT pros free, works well for what we do

SmartDeployment, or Acronis Snap Deploy cons costs

hopefully someone who has used the others can give a better answer.

MDT rocks if you have time and sill to configure it, it is a base platform so if you know some VBS, html and js you can make it do practically anything, its also free. The others may be quicker to configure initially but cost and lack the native customization ability.

SCCM, basically WDS / MDT with better reporting and automation for sending out images, along with all the other management goodies you get with it :)

We use MDT2012 and like someone above me clearly states - "It rocks" - it does indeed. Check out the sticky post in this forum which contains links to books, blogs, articles etc etc.

Great piece of software for lite touch deployments. You'll also get a lot of help on here.
