HarryMonkey Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Spend them as soon as you can or they may become worthless. Comet are expected to enter administration this week. Comet edges towards administration - FT.com
Arthur Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Not surprising at all. I haven't been to a Comet store in years. Our local one is dreadful. Btw, your link doesn't work. Here's another that doesn't have a stupid paywall... Retailer Comet looms closer to administration - FT | Reuters
Iain.Faulkner Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I've just ordered a load of stuff from them due to be delivered on Saturday!!
Netwacky87 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Comet has been tiltering on the brink of Administration for a good 1 / 2 years! My dad used to work for Currys about 2 years ago as an engineer and he said back then there was word of them going under...Sometimes you can grab a really good bargain with them but not shocked tbh
Achandler Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Comet suffer because they have become a showroom for Internet shoppers. I reckon we are all guilty of going into a high street shop (not just Comet) and saying oh yes I like that one, then going home and buying it online.
hit Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 The sooner the better these shysters were removed from the high street (Dixons group included). Full of staff that give appalling advice and don't get me started with their support people. The amount of times I've had a computer land on my desk after being to these people when something's gone wrong and they just factory install the OS again without trying to recover anything (and charged them £80 for pressing alt-f8 at boot)! I do feel sorry for the staff that will be on the street without a job, but the employers should have trained them better in the actual tech their selling rather than how to sell more of it! 1
Devontechie Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Just seen this on the BBC site BBC News - Comet retailer to go into administration

Arthur Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Got a washing machine due for delivery on Tuesday!!!! Did you pay with a credit card? If so, you can get your money back. I always use a credit card for purchases over £100 for exactly this reason.
Rawns Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Did you pay with a credit card? If so, you can get your money back. I always use a credit card for purchases over £100 for exactly this reason. Wait, it was from Currys!
