Best way to create system image of an old computer for backup

Hey,

Looking to get rid of a few old computers that are laying around, and wondering what people generally use.

Basically want to create an image of the computers that I can use to access/retrieve docs/programs if I need in the future, but preferably one that can be mounted from within windows (in terms of restores).

All the computers are old home etc editions so no built in system images in the OSs.

Been having a look at the few main ones I can think of (e.g. Clonezilla, Paragon), but can't see a way to restore files from these a) from within windows, b) individual files etc, only the whole images.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Steve

disk to vhd then you can probably even boot them in hyperv

Isn't disk to VHD done via system image though? Only available in Pro or higher? Or is there another way to do it.
