Printing!

Hi everyone,

 

I am just wondering if you can give me an idea of how much you print! This can be primary and secondary as I need to see if we are printing to much as I think we are.

 

We are a primary and junior school we also have a ASD base and nursery. we have 585 pupils and 125 teaching staff.

 

Last month so from 31/08/12 till 28/09/12 we printed 121080 pages that works out as 54241 colour copies and 66839 black and white.

 

This month from 30/09/2012 till 16/10/12 we have printed 56725 pages that works out as 24466 colour copies and 32259 black and white.

 

We have had the printer for 4 and a half years on lease and 3 have printed 3 Million 7 Hundred 40 Thousand 3 hundred and 64 times.

That's crazy figures (last month at least) Or does that include reprographics etc?

 

Before we started limiting we were doing 1.5-2k a day, so 60k~ a month. But this was just laser printers, not our reprographics etc.

 

Since adding a few limits (just playing with limits currently) we're on about 40k~ a month.

Basically we just have one big printer in the school which is a RISO so that is just teachers printing and by the looks of recycle bins it all goes straight in the bin after they have used it.

Just added ours up.

 

Since July 2010:

 

2,599,252 Mono

303,204 Colour

 

Half the colour is on main copiers, and only 135k of the mono is on printers.

 

548 pupils, 120ish staff.

 

We have until this week, limited colour printing for staff. We now allow them unlimited. Kids get 5 mono per week. (We're a middle school).

 

So basically, we do just under a million copies a year.

From 1/9/2012 to 16/10/2012 we've run off 222,553 copies (50,820 colour, 171,733 mono). We're a secondary with around 450 students and 60ish staff. Staff can print what they want but everything is recharged to their department. Students get print quotas and within that can print whatever colour/mono pages they want (colour costs a lot more than mono).

I can't tell you how much we print, we don't run a management system.

 

I can tell you that we are a normal sized secondary school.......that has 56 printers networked about the site.

 

I've worked all over the private sector, all over the country, and abroad and I've never worked anywhere with so many printers.

 

So......I think we print too much, and that 90% of it is garbage.

Thank You for the information so looking at the prints other schools use then we are sort of around the same but still need to try and get staff to cut down on the printing.

School here where I work, just a little over 1 million pages printed, 880k of them were black and white, where as a little over 125k were colour with us.

 

Thats including all our managed printers (MFDs and classroom printers - which we try to minimise / charge individual departments for their toners) 20 Printers in total of which - 12 were MFDs, although since then we amalgamated a few of them and didnt renew the devices when contracts came around, after myself and my line manager went through the costs, the rentals werent being covered by the departmental printing bills on some of them, so were costing us too much.
