shahidemran Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 We have quite a few classrooms with the projector and whiteboards as those teachers don't need interactivity. We are looking to buy something portable which can make these classroom interactive for a lesson or a day. What is the best pick for this purpose, eBeam Edge or Mimio Teach, also don't mind considering other products. Thanks in advance.
SYNACK Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 We use Mimio here, tonnes of resources, good hardware support and they have even sorted out a GPO deployable MSI that can just be pushed to every computer in the school if you want to. 1
MrElson2 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 We use the Genee Sense. Have a look at this Genee Sense - Instantly turns a traditional whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard we have been using them for a while now with no issues and they were a great price.
ricki Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 HI I think you would be better getting smartboards. Richard
NDW Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 +1 for the ebeam, they have a varied product range + good price, brilliant hardware - looks good too and excellent customer service.. and a 7 year warranty on the ebeam edge
SYNACK Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 HI I think you would be better getting smartboards. Richard Smartboards are great until the first airborne chair comes their way and there goes $5k+ Mimios and others that use IR+Ultrasonic are much more portable, tough and versatile in harsher situations. No membrane to worry about tearing, staining, denting, warping etc. Different products for different situations, it also depends on what software your resources are in, the Mimio stuff can be pushed out to all computers which makes it much easier to share stuff around. Some of the other products are far less supported for site wide deployments and have much smaller or non-existent online resource banks. All of this should be taken into account when looking at these things and evaluating their worth.
LeMarchand Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 One of my schools had eBeam and hated it; before my time but apparently the "beamer" wouldn't stay in the same position. This was some time ago and the product has definitely changed (from a quick look on their site) and may have improved since then.
enjay Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 My experience is limited to playing with them at BETT etc., but I preferred the Mimio, it seemed more natural to use. It comes with an MSI for the drivers too, so should deploy nicely as well.
enjay Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I think you would be better getting smartboards. Then you've clearly not read his original post, in which he says that he wants something which can be moved around for an hour at a time.
