Smartboard Pen - TIPS!!!

Hi,

 

Anyone else have this problem, we've had some new smartboard 600 series, and the pens keep losing their tips/nib or whatever else you like the call the bit on the end.

 

Trying to find replacements, but even google doesnt have much of an answer, anyone else replaced these?

Call Steljes and ask if they exist as a part 08450 758 758. Think you'll find that you need to buy a new set of pens. If they are new it might be a bad batch and you might be able to blag new ones with your retailer and/or Steljes.

Could be worse, we use SMART Lightrise projectors and the tip hs dropped out of one of our pens, no spare tips are sold by Steljes and a replacement pen costs £84 SMART Replacement Pen for SMART LightRaise 60Wi RPEN-SLR60 ST38430 - buy at Primary ICT for Primary Schools & Education.

We have the same problem and I have complained to our rep who has complained to the company. No response. The pens break in half, and the tips break off. It seems to be happening more frequently and they are expensive to replace!

Aren't SMART boards still resistive touch? Why not just buy cheaper chunky styluses or pens? On the older boards at least, the pen detection was simply some kind of sensor on the board's tray it self, so you could literally use a paintbrush if you wanted to.

Smart are yep, on some of the boards here that people lost pens they use empty prittstick style pens to hold the sensors haha

I am referring to the Smart Sympodiums - desktop units. Not the Smartboards. These pens are wired in and touch sensitive. The screen and pen combo are extremely responsive so there is no need for these pens to break. there is very little pressure applied. Bad product.

Have you thought about making your own nibs? Buy some sugru, mould it into place and leave it to dry.... only a thought.

We turned some out of nylon and they worked a treat
