Unable to create desktop Shortcut using GPP

I'm trying to add a shortcut to the desktop and have tried creating a shortcut to the program via GPP but when it runs I get an error in event viewer saying it couldn't find the specified file. The shortcut I am trying to is Google Chrome, but I get the problem regardless of any shortcut I try and make. The software is already installed on the client I just want to add the shortcut to the desktop so users stop creating help calls that software isn't installed.

 

I've added the shortcut under user and Computer GPP. I've created shortcuts onto users program list (which worked) but I must be doing something wrong in creating a desktop shortcut. Any ideas what I can check?

Update - don't know what I did differently but it now works fine

I found with anything that writes files to the users area the check box in the GPP for 'Run in user logged on context' had to be ticked.

 

'Run in logged-on user's security context (user policy option)' Yes

 

With Windows 7 it is possible for them to search for installed programs as most of our prep school students got used to. Are you planning to do this for all software loaded on the machine if staff can't find the application in the start menu :-(
