ellisteph10 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Hi Does anyone use the Vodafone Sure Signal? We are having all kinds of problems as you cant 'get into' the system to set it an IP address, it relies on DHCP and as such doesnt get the correct internet stream Ellis
mwbutler Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 VSS is a piece of carp that has never worked for the majority of people who were unfortunate enough to buy it. I spent hours trying to get it working for my parents and ended up giving up. On their forum there is (or at least was) a dedicated forum for VSS with guides and tips and so many people couldn't get it working it was unreal. VF just didn't care (they don't give a f*$% about their customers) so as a family we ditched our contracts when they ended and have never looked back. In short, browse their online forum and see if the tips work - the users there are actually rather helpful and knowledgeable...unlike their staff. Good luck!
MatthewL Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 It created a secure tunnel using VPN, check these ports are open think its UDP 500 to them. That might help.
twin--turbo Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 get the IP, and then get DHCP to statical assign it. then make sure your firewall will allow 123UDP 50UDP/TCP 4500UDP 500UDP Took me ages of faffing to find out and get it registerd. The found out none of the phones that had been supplied and were needed to use the VSS were 3G, So it was a total waste of my time. JUNK. Rob The hope, pray , swear. And It may work.

ZeroHour Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I have one and other then it taking 24-48 hours to activate it works pretty well. When I plugged it in I thought it was broken initially since it wouldnt connect up but I believe it can just take a while to gain access to voda's system. I set its ip via DHCP reservation and forwarded the relevant ports through.
twin--turbo Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I looked everywhere for any decent information on the device, had to pice it together from 2-3 random forum posts. The documentation is/was appalling and I found no formal help for it. Not being able to set a static IP on it and not being able to get any decent diagnostic information out of it is a big let down as is the 3G only support. I would say it's not a BUSINESS device, and also a friend who is a Techi tried one at home and could not get it to work EASILY! ZeroHour Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Yeh a diagnostics screen/page would be useful. RE: 3G only, thats a limitation of Femtocell tech I believe as only 3G supports it.
