Student Logons not picking up Network Shared and home folder on 64Bit

Bit of a strange one that I can't crack here. I have just set up two new Windows 7 64 bit PCs that connect to the network by wireless (Ruckus). They are fine on my Admin logon but with a student logon they fail to pick up either the student's home folder or network shares. Oddly from Explorer printers etc are visible but the drives aren't - some sort of permission issue? 32 bit machines in the same remote classroom are ok.

I'm still stuck with this one. My thinking is it must be a Windows 7 permission issue of some sort - the strange thing about it being that it's only a few students getting hit with the problem.l

Can you provide some more info on how you are setting shares/drives etc? Group policy preferences/login script etc. And also what is the general form of the connection to the shares? i.e. \\server\share$\%username% etc etc.

 

There shouldn't really be a difference in how they are applied based on 64bit or 32bit windows 7, unless you have some strange reference to the Program Files folder (Program Files (x86) exists on 64bit)

TVM @themitymrp It is Group Policy 2008 Domain. Shares are \\server\share$\studentyear\%username%

Sorry about the delay getting back to you. Are you assigning network drives via the Group Policy Preferences settings? If so do you have anything set on the item-level targetting which is filtering it to only run on 32bit OS's? Also, what setting are you setting on the drive maps? i.e. replace/create/update?

 

I assume you have a different policy assigned to student logins and admin logins? Are you mapping the drives in the User Configuration or the Computer Configuration?

Do you have any WMI filters in place that might be causing the issue.

We had a load in place which I am now removing as I unlink all of the old XP policies.
