cynlis Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 My gut instinct is because I have separated the pupils Address Lists from the staff, then there is issues with it I don't thank that is the issue because I don't have any address lists and I have to remove and retype the "from" address every time too.
AceDaz Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 So you haven't changed any of your address lists and created new global address lists? Do you hide any of your email accounts from the GAL?
cynlis Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 So you haven't changed any of your address lists and created new global address lists? Do you hide any of your email accounts from the GAL? Nope, I surely did not change any list with the exception of hiding the address I am trying to sendas. But even before I hid it from the GAL I was experiencing the same issue. My set up is so basic. . . 45 email address, 1 is a postmaster account (is also a catch-all). While I am in my Outlook 2010, I want to be able to forward mail that comes to the postmaster as a result of the "catch-all" to the correct party. It's annoying to have to remove and re-type every time, and why should I have to? I know you know what I mean. I wanted to set/verify my setting so I ran these: Give user full mailbox rights: Add-MailboxPermission -Identity $mailbox -User $user -AccessRights 'FullAccess' Give user send-as rights to mailbox: Add-ADPermission -Identity $mailbox.DisplayName -User $user -ExtendedRights 'Send-as' Everything I have done so far says it should be working as EMS tells me "The appropriate access control entry is already present on the object" I've seen other blogs about this same issue with no resolve. However, I see that we are the only two that figured out removing the address and re-typing is a valid work around - a pain in the a*s, but still a work around. I'll keep searching. . . and if/when I find something, I will be sure to come back here to let you know.
cynlis Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 i am curious to know what those EMS commands do for you. let me know if you run/ran them.
AceDaz Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 I did mine through the EMC and not the shell. I assigned Full Access, SendAs and Send on behalf of.
AceDaz Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Does ti work from OWA? Didn't know you could send as through OWA. I will need to check on that
AceDaz Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Does ti work from OWA? I logged into my web mail and opened the Helpdesk mail box and the address bar changed to https://mail.blehblahbleh.co.uk/owa/[email protected] and sent 3 emails straight after each other and they all sent ok
sukh Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 So it works via OWA, just not Outlook? Have you tried in online mode again? Delete the OST & OAB files thrn configure online mode.
AceDaz Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Yeah it works through OWA, I am sure I tried online mode instead of cached mode. But will try again tomorrow. Any specific settings to look out for? Instead of the "Use Cached Mode" tick box when verifying the mail box name?
sukh Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Just make sure the OAB & OST have been deleted, un tick that check box.
AceDaz Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Just make sure the OAB & OST have been deleted, un tick that check box. Tried that, moved ALL files out of the Outlook folder and created a new profile. Still had the same issue. But instead of a delivery report back, it prompted me straight away with the attached dialogue box.

sukh Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Can you try this - How to configure how the Offline Address Book is downloaded when you use Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode Put value 0 & delete any OAB files from the users profile.
AceDaz Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Removed the OAB after modifying the registry as directed - with a 0 in the DWORD field. Removed the Email address from the Send from email address and entered it back in. First email went ok as usual and the second email I tried to send had the delivery not of "You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk." sukh Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 What is the default SMTP for the user trying to send-as? How many smtp domains do you have? Is the user trying to send-as a different email domain than their default?
AceDaz Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 What is the default SMTP for the user trying to send-as? How many smtp domains do you have? Is the user trying to send-as a different email domain than their default? We have 3 email domains, 2 are for accepting emails only as they are the old email addresses. But the sending domain matches the default domain. Eg they will get an email if its addresses to @domain1.com or @domain2.com or @domain3.com but they can only send from @domain3.com My default email address is @domain3.com and I am trying to send out from the [email protected] Is that what you mean?

AceDaz Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 ok, now you say U are trying to send out as helpdesk, can you create a test account and give that account send-as permission to helpdesk and test. Actually logon as this test acct on windies & test via owa & olk I have created other accounts e.g Accounts and PIU and given Full Access, Send As and Send on Behalf of rights to the other people and the issue still remains. So it's not related to the one mailbox it seems to be the server itself
sukh Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Can you check your account & the test account & see if the checkbox for "...inheritance" is ticked on the AD User object?
AceDaz Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Can you check your account & the test account & see if the checkbox for "...inheritance" is ticked on the AD User object? Do you mean, in AD U&C, User Properties, Security, Advanced and "Include inheritable permissions from the Object's parent"? It's unchecked
