Student profile issue

I want to ensure that students have a very small profile when logging on (mainly to ensure a fast logon for the laptops and netbooks on our wireless network) currently profiles get larger and larger due to the application data folder.

 

I have tried editing the app data folder but more and more application data is added to this. I setup a read only but this then caused problems with microsoft.

 

I then attempted a mandatory profile which seemed to work and remain 1.52mb profile but......

the mapped drives on the network stopped working

the redirected startmenu and desktop stopped working.

 

Has anyone a good idea and step by step solution that would work for me?

How are you trying to deploy them with mandatory profiles?

 

If it's just a quick option, can't you just stick them in the profiles all user folder?
