Wizzer Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I'm looking for some inexspensive (preferably open source and web based) registration software to use in school, initially for the 6th form but maybe the whole school later. I needs to register twice a day in form, but also in lessons and report to the tutor and head of sixth form of any absences. Most of what I have seen will only do part of what we want (without spending silly money).
fooby Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 We (spend silly money) use SIMS.net and the lesson registration feature of this. If you have SIMS.net afaik you have the lesson register ability already, if your data is correct all your classes will already be populated. fooby
Wizzer Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 We don't have SIMS.net, we use Omnis, I don't think we have the attendance module (I try to avoid having too much to do with it to be honest and although the forms are set up, the classes are not as we don't use it for timetabling either).
klawd Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 We have an in house web based solution that we use for lesson registration & behaviou rmanagement. If you are interested, send me a message and we can discuss further.
fooby Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 How do schools run without an MIS? ... or is this cause for a new thread... :-S fooby
Wizzer Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Have you looked at FREEMIS? I've looked at FreeMIS, took a while to get ruby and rails working but i did. Doesn't appear to actually do any registration functions.
jumpinjamez Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 We don't have SIMS.net, we use Omnis, I don't think we have the attendance module (I try to avoid having too much to do with it to be honest and although the forms are set up, the classes are not as we don't use it for timetabling either). We do it this way however Lesson register is a addon for us at extra cost. i think is was 8k and then 1k a year support which we have never used.
tarquel Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 We use Bromcom for e-registration and all that jazz. The system links to SIMS .net - Timetabling and everything is done on SIMS... all attendance and related gubbin's is done on Bromcom - registration / attendance reports / etc. Timetable is brought from SIMS into Bromcom I believe. Its pretty good but its not cheap. Regards Nath
