Darylrese Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, We have just installed a new network at our school and we now have a virtual Exchange 2010 server which is up and running but we are being ridiculed with SPAM emails. I have recieved in excess of 100 over one weekend to my personal mailbox alone. Can you guys recommend me a decent FREE SPAM FILTER which is easy to use and setup? Until recently on our old exchange i was using a program called Vamsoft Enterprise Edition which stopped SPAM to users mailboxes but meant i have to sivve through thousands of SPAM emails a day to ensure there were no false positives as all it did was redirect them to a specified mailbox. Hoping to implement a better system on our new exchange following recommendation by you guys. All suggestions welcome, thanks in advance! Edited August 20, 2012 by Darylrese

All i need to do is put our blacklist / whitelist into a text file and i should be able to import it all over to Forefront. I'll let you know how I get on and thanks again!

sukh Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Or use the built in anti-spam agents on the HUB, just install them. However, if you can get Forefront for Exchange, then I would go for that. Other things you may want to consider is setting up SPF records for your smtp domain to reduce spoofing from your domain and reduce the likeness of your domain being blocked/blacklisted.

All your mail is routed first through Microsoft's mail server (so, you need to change your MX record to point there), before it is then delivered to the school. This has several advantages, not least of which being your servers do not get hit by all the unwanted mail, as well as offloading the responsibility for keeping everything up to date.
