Metro jump lists

Is there any way using only the Metro UI, to open a jump list of recently opened documents? Seems like I'm one of the 1.2% of users who user Start Menu jump lists as I don't like multiple pinned taskbar icons. Knowing that you can't now bypass Metro on boot how can I open recent document directly from the Metro UI without opening the app first?

 

Granted some might say Office 2013 has a better opening screen that does something similar but other apps won't, so is there any Metro way to do it as I can't see one at the moment?

Yup. They went from Metro to 'Windows 8' to 'ModernUI'... Rolls off the tongue doesn't it?

Sorry its not a moan about metro but you can create a shortcut to profile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent and pin this to the start menu.

Was a genuine question, got 8 on my main laptop atm seeing if I can learn to like it

 

The shortcuts gives the recent items but still jumps to Desktop mode and small lists, was hoping there's a way to do it seamlessly via the tiles UI
