Having a few strange issues with a new squid install. Most sites work ok but anything involving a script like the CGI IRC on my site or even this site and a few forums ive tried they wont execute.

For example I can get to http://www.edugeek.net no problem but when I try clicking on a post is doesnt like it. I tried mark minasi forums as well. I could see the forum but as soon as I tried clicking on a section or post my proxy gave an error that it couldnt be found any ideas?

Do you ever get a "connection refused" error?

If so you may need to play with the "never_direct" option in your squid config, this tells squid to never go direct for noncachable objects (such as cgi).

You will also want never_direct if you are forced to use an upstream proxy by your isp (if its as crap as mine).

It was the never_direct I used and I'm in the same situation as you, we are forced to use an upstream proxy unless we take it off their hands with a letter from the head and we have to install smart filter though and I like dansguardian  . Although I suppose I need the URL filtereing as well.
