brickwall53 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi all. I have 35 new laptops. I have installed extra programs and made one a "master" I need to clone the other laptops. I can use a "Clonezilla" disk to do them one at a time........takes ages What about running "Clonezilla" from a 2008r2 server would that be difficult to set up. I did try to install UBUNTU on the server but the server was not too happy about that and said there was a permission problem. Any tips Ta
liamvaughan Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I use a program called fog, really easy to setup and really quick ay imagining machines fog uses ubuntu. 2

If you google fog setup there is a very useful guide someone has done on spiceworks ive been using it for two years now very inpresed with it

brickwall53 Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Been trying to install UBUNTU and then FOG. What a laugh it has been...On and off 4 days. Tried a few different tutorials but there is always problem. I am not LINUX literate but I am learning fast. I was going to give up but I am going to have another go tomorrow. If anyone has the time to help I would be very very grateful I am going to use the guide from https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9458832/Ubuntu%20install%20guide.pdf if anyone want to follow me along. I have lots of stupid questions to ask about linux repositories, keys, sudo, bash etc Ta Frustrated but not beaten yet!
brickwall53 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Hi again I have installed ubuntu 10.04 lsv Just downloading the fog 0.32 tar I am using Ubuntu 10.04 - FOGProject Wiki and its telling me to setup a static IP Address Can you clarify What should I put in the settings? Ta
brickwall53 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Fog setup complete It tells me to open http://10.6.185.6/fog/management but I get a error ACCESS DENIED Do I need to change some settings on the proxy server Ta
Geoff Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 It shouldn't involve the proxy server. You should have an exception for internal IPs/Hosts?
brickwall53 Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Sorted I typed in http://localsource/fog/management and it came up with a message that fog needed updating I pressed update and voila So what is the difference between http://10.6.185.6/fog/management and http://localsource/fog/management Moving onto playing with fog This should be another laugh Ta again
paulellam Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I used Clonezilla over the network that worked well in the past.. moved onto other deployment methods since tho
