Help with specification of PC

I have potentially £50k to spend on as many computers as I can get, the question im asking is what sort of spec is decent enough these days?

And what should be the minimum or maximum I should go for along with top and bottom priceprice?

 

Our old computers are mostly core2duos, having not bought any computers for the last 3/4 years im well out of date on desktop chips and speed

 

My very basic basics are:

 

22" Monitor

4gb Ram

I would always recommend at least i3 but preferably i5 processor and a SSD if you have no real need for huge storage. The PC's will be a lot quicker that way.

 

Then I would suggest Windows 7 Home as the OS, depending on whether you have a MS license agreement as this will keep the costs down on the actual unit.

I ran a procurement exersize last year on exactly the same basis, out of a handful of suppliers, no one could complete costwise with Viglen and also their on site warranty is dirt cheap as well. As above with the licencing, as Viglen recommended us to do that as well.

I've bought AMD A8 3850's based systems nearly as powerful a first gen I5 and it has sweet GFX chip (60 player gaming here I come;)

 

If your willing to take the risk get bespoke units built. I got 67 3850 PCs with 20" Dell Pro monitors for £21k I could have had sensible Dell systems with G630s for the same money.

Give Stone a call and hangle - if your looking to keep for 4/5 years then I5 with 6/8Gb ram and an SSD - the need for local storage in a domain isn't that great so you can get away with 64/90gb ssd's.

I meant Haggle not Hangle! One thing I would say is get a few quotes and drive stone back on there pricing - they normally if you have a fair amount of PC's to buy do a deal - and with 50k you should be able to get yourself 150 machines at the least.
