Ultra-short throw projectors

Anyone bought anything like this? The Head has seen these at another school is getting insistent about removing shadow on IWBs, but without using booms.

Short throw yes (1 metre or less) but not Ultra-short throw. They're extremely expensive for what they are, plus 1 metre or less should get rid of shadows unless you stand in front of it.

We've got an older version of that here and I have to say that in all the years it's been installed it's been great. I also haven't had to replace anything on it yet (bulb etc). I'd have them everywhere if we could afford it.

We've a number of the Hitachis, EDA-110 chiefly although the newer model we're using is the CPA221NM. They do work brilliantly - clear, bright image, no problems with them, filter is easy to get to - but they are pricey. Recent quote I had for three of the CPA221NMs was £727 each, so they're more than the Casio LEDs and need bulbs going forward.

 

Sometimes, though, the ceiling height & construction mean they're a necessity. If you're mounting on a stud wall, you'll need a patrice in it to ensure it's sturdy enough to take the weight.

 

So yes, excellent kit, but you pay for it.

The hitachi UCF are very good machines, the only problem with UCF is you MUST have a completley flat board i have seen many boards with a curve in that will not setup with UCF projectors, but i must also say the Hitachi are as good as the Epson with the new setup on them and you can flex the image with "perfect image" in the menu to remove some of the problems with none flat boards.

We fit the ultra short throw hitachis as std these days they're brillant.

 

Have half a dozen now with 4 more in the summer.

I've done 7 of the 220, and 3 of the 221 now and they are just outstanding, long lamp life, easy to hang up, loads of features. Re. not-flat boards, the 'perfect fit' feature on the hitachi makes them usable in most circumstances, even if the wall/board/screen is not quite flat.
