Mapping AD home folder in OSX Lion

Sorry if this has already been asked/answer...

I'm in the progress of upgrading our iMacs from 10.5.8 to Lion (10.7). They used to map our user's Windows home directory fine, but when I upgraded one Mac to 10.7, it started mapping the Documents/Music/Pictures etc to the local Mac, i.e. when the user saved their work, it was svaed to the Mac's HDD rather than the NAS it normally would go on.

My question is, is there a way to force the Mac to map to the user's Home Drive? I've tried using the option in the Directory Utility, but this doesn't seem to work.

If memory serves, turn them into mobile accounts...

I did this Monday, so I will take look tomorrow. We do have a Lion Server which we use to manage the clients. From memory I joined the Mac to AD and then used directory utility and went to the advanced settings for AD and removed the tick on 'force local home drive'. I have also upgraded the client to 10.7.4, whether that is important I couldn't say. Edited July 11, 2012 by sjatkn

Ensure that the option to force local home drives is not selected under advanced options in directory utility.

While I have your attention, has anyone sat the Apple Support Essentials exams? I'm currently studying for the Lion one (bad timing I know, as soon as I got the book they announced Mountain Lion...), can anyone tell me what the exam's like?

As long as you have read the book you should find it quite easy. I have done quite a few apple exams over the years and they have always been quite straightforward.

Well, "force local home drive" pretty much does what it says - it forces the local drive to be used for the users profile. Fortunately, it's very easy for you to fix.
