russdev Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Urgent one need ideas on how does my job as network manager help Support vulnerable Children be that G & T, SEN, EAL, children from difficult backgrounds etc. Russell
StewartKnight Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I run computer clubs for G&T and special needs. Also support SENCO in classes by being at the back, for help if needed.
webman Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 You provide and support the platform and environment for which specialist software can be installed and used on. (Eg network with accessability features turned on. What else can you do?)
alonebfg Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Also you are always looking for new ways ie interactive pc with voice control and investagating touch screen tecnolgy but due to cost at the moment its not vilable
ChrisC Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 You ensure that users of your network are safe from websites/content which may effect vulnerable people etc? Chris
Joedetic Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 You dont get frustrated and chuck stuff at them? Seriously though, keeping identities anonymous with student e-mail services by not using their name in the address. Only publishing first names and not surnames alongside photographs on the website. Allowing parents to withdraw consent in writing for things like external e-mail and having their photo on the website. That sort of thing i suppose.
contink Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 SEN: investigating, sourcing and implimenting special input devices, software, etc... to meet a wide range of needs.
bishopsgarthstockton Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 there should be a SEN manager you can chat to and he/she will or have some idea of what they require, that been bigger screens, keyboard, mice, on screen keyboard etc. voice recognition is useless in schools specially when you have 20 -30 kids all nattering away. we have number of SEN children here.
russdev Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Thanks for replies know can come up with some guff with long fancy words in it like ICT
greenfieldsupport Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 We use sucessmaker here... as much as its stupidly expensive and quite simple... it actually works...! Might be worth looking into, although it belongs to one of the most evil companys to ever grace the earth* * = rm
petectid Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Thanks for replies know can come up with some guff with long fancy words in it like ICT Your inspector will expect to see evidence, if you have no evidence you are not doing it as far as their concerned. So if you discuss the acquisition and make recommendations on say input devices for Special Needs they will ask what you have purchased, if you lie and get found out well? Inspectors always cross reference what people say, so they will ask your SENCO about the use of input devices for Special Needs and expect them to sing from the same hymn sheet. If they do not then someone may not be telling the truth, and the Head will be asked about inconsistencies in your answers, believe me your Head will not be happy.
