CyberNerd Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi All, We bought a suite of imacs as part of a marketing drive to help recruit 6th form students into media dept, and therefore the rest of the college. The imacs came with wireless keyboards and mice which we think will get nicked. We want to continue to use the wireless kb/mice because they look pretty. Instead we would like to connect the wireless devices with security wires - the type you get in phone shops with alarms etc. Does anyone know where we would get them from? I know it sounds a bit a**e about face, but we didn't buy them for technical reasons.
Dom_ Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 You'd be better off just security marking them with your college name and a PC number (that'll at least stop them being swapped around in the suite to confuse other students). Don't know of any cables that will connect to a wireless mouse!

Surely might as well get the wired ones and they get imac desk locks to secure imac and keyboard/mouse. How does a suite of wireless keyboards and mice work without interference anyway?

TBH - I was just searching for options, its all for aesthetics so we might end up with teacher handing them in and out at the beginning/end of each lesson.

mac_shinobi Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Could you not just keep the wireless keyboards and mice and use USB keyboards and mice ( apple ones if you want ) but logitech or other makes of keyboards and mice would work with the iMacs.

I think RFID or hand in-out is probably the way forward, otherwise sell the wireless ones and do as you say.

The primary objective is for marketing, if they wanted functioning computers we would have put PC's in for a third of the price.

Still would have been cheaper. Hell, get DT to design and make the cases...
