[windows software] Microsoft Lync on EES

Can somebody please point me in the right direction as my reseller doesnt seem to be giving me a straight answer.

We have a EES agreement, which covers us for Windows 7 & Office 2010.

 

I want to look into the posibility of using Lync next year. On my licensing center I have a option to download link (no key?) is this lync server or just the client?

 

Can i use lync under this EES agreement or do I need to add it on so to speak?

When we did it you had to pay for the Server Lic but the cals for users are included

depending if you got the core or the enterprise, that table shows you what you can user (need server licences still)

You can also cheat and get it for free by signing up to Office365 and just using that bit of it depending on which bits you need to use.

If you want to use the enterprise voice features you'll also need the plus cal in addition to standard and enterprise cals

I've been told there is no enterprise voice on 365. So for that you have to have on premises (and thus EES).

 

Oh and change your reseller. If they can't give you the answers, spend your school's money elsewhere.

Not 100% sure on the liscencing but the top plans do include enterprise voice however you are right that you need an onsite server for that bit. Not sure if the liscence is covered under this (seems feasable) or if there is a need for an extra liscence for the local stuff.
