I need a list of which MIS Systems are fully web based, which would be suitable for mainstream Local Authority Primary and Secondary schools and whether they are on the IMLS Framework

Our current MIS contract will be coming to an end in the not too distant future and my Director of Service has asked me to find out what else in on the market, so that we can arrange to have demonstrations of their systems

The list I have so far is:-

Bromcom

Serco Progresso

ScholarPack

ASPEN

Integris G2

ISAMS (seems to be mainly independent schools but I may be wrong)

Phoenix E1

Can anyone add to my list please?

Many thanks

This link : http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/76154-something-keep-eye-dfe.html#post807968

has the IMLS list but includes non web based too.

Novatia is Follett / Aspen.

Histon House is ScholarPack

Wauton Samuel is PASAPP

I don't think ISAMS is on there, but you're right it is good for Independents, but saying that i've heard of many happy customers.

I have a feeling, from talks at BETT, Scholarpack weren't yet as geared up for secondary school, and ALL functions, but this will have changed in 6 months.

Personally, i'd say ASPEN tops the ranks as it is flexible, allows config, db access, open source and has auditing (yay!) . You can read bits and bobs about the others in various threads.

It's worth considering how they link to VLE, if you have one or are considering and the functions / cost of that.

Thanks for your replies

If any other MIS Representitives are reading this and I have missed you from my original list, please reply as I don't want to miss anybody out

Open Standards.

Can use SQL, MySQL, Oracle. Written in Java, so if you have Java developers on staff they can further enhance the system beyond what is normally customisable using the GUI tools. In fact we offer yearly prizes in competitions for the best development project taken on by schools!

Tried that... Wasn't much call in the modelling world for a 27 yr old who looks like a 20 yr old, but thinks like a 50 yr old and acts like a 35 yr old...

That is I look young, think like a grumpy old man and act like I'm in a mid life crisis ;-)

Is that why you bought a convertible sports car and insist on driving around under the speed limit with the top down in the pouring with the rain? ;)
