RM Maths and Server 2008 R2

Just curious to know if anyone has changed the RM maths database thingy and put it on 2008 R2?

 

No worries if nobody can, I have virtualisation plans here anyway, so will just create an image of the current server especially for RM maths :-P

I just left RM Maths on my old 2003 server, now demoted from DC, when I got a new 2008R2 - frankly it is such a pain that I didnt want to touch it!

yeah, I don't want to touch it with a barge pole because they use it here every day... you would think that RM would have brought a new version out because it is so popular (or it is in my schools!!!)

We moved it from 2003 to 2008r2 but i think we got RM Support to help us with it at the time In fairness they were pretty good too from memory.

It's currently on 2008 (R1 32bit) and it needs moving to 2008 R2 64bit. I have found the box, but I think the disc is just for the client program, not the server program :-S All the disc reads is RM Maths version 4.1

Those discs will be fine. The installation occurs on the client and not the server.

I've moved to 2008 R2 and had no issues with RM Maths. They use it everyday here. I didn't have to change anything.

I have moved from RM CC3 server with XP workstations to Server 2008 RC2 with Win7 on workstations without a hitch. managed to export all pupil names and data and import into new install on the server. I was amased that it was trouble free (apart from the server side install needs to restart server). I remember having huge troubles with RM maths over the years but that was with things like the screen calibration section of the workstation install. I have also installed the workstation side on 30 netbooks running Win7Pro which threw up errors about the screen resolution but I added a script to the RM link which changes the resolution on the netbooks before it runs the RM maths exe, it then changes back afterwards.

Good to see RM still supporting this software, all schools I go to use this but I am amased there has not been an update in about 9years or so. Does RM do any newer software that plots learning levels of pupils (not sure thats the right term but I'm sure you know what I mean).
