Another Ruckus and Proxy settings

I no there have been many topics on this already but i had Ruckus installed yesterday ZD1106 with 6 AP's and was just wondering if there is a way of pushing the proxy settings to guests connecting to a seperate SSID. The school is a simple network and has no Smoothwall installed?

 

Can this be done and is there a way.

Update to 9.3.1.0 Build 20

 

Then browse to Configure > WLANs > Advanced Options for your required SSID.

Select Auto Proxy and then upload wpad.dat file to ZoneDirector

Instead of creating a new topic shall post here,

 

I have managed to get the latest firmware 9.4 but when trying to update on the ZD it fails every time. it uploads just fine then asks me to make a back up all ok when i press "Update" takes me to the splash screen goes to restarting then crashes there and all i get is a flashing red light for 2 hours on the ZD itself?

 

Can i update straight from 9.1 to 9.4 or do i need to update to 9.3 before updating again?

I'm a bit confused about this method. Does this mean that when a client connects to a particular Ruckus SSID they get pushed that proxy by the Ruckus?

If auto detect is ticked in IE then they will get the proxy details from the wpad file you have created.

Or do you make the DNS entries to point to the Ruckus?

Yes. There is a document on the Ruckus site with full instructions. Also, in later version of Windows server a wpad entry is not allowed in DNS for security but its easy to turn off and the entry to work.

 

I have it issued from the Ruckus ZD, the DHCP setting for that scope also has details of where the files comes from.
