[ms office - 2010] Outlook client settings / OWA Settings

Afternoon,

 

We currently use OWA and Exchange 2007 which is supplied by the LEA. In the options users can create their own signature and have it appended to the end of each email. Several users have done this.

 

Several staff have asked if they could use the main Outlook client (in our case 2010) as it removes the need to login to the Exchange server to read their email. The LEA do not support this as they want a uniform look and feel across the board. However I'm under pressure to offer the Outlook client.

 

After testing with my mail account for a few weeks I'm happy that it is working. WHat I'm not happy with is that the signature does not come over from OWA into their messages. I've tried creating a signature with the Outlook 2010 client and it works whilst the user is logged in. What the software doesn't do is save the signature for the next time the person (me) logs in.

 

Has anyone got his working and can advise?

We use a mandatory profile. I wondered whether we could store something in which is located in the users .

You could redirect app data. The signature is stored in the profile so you could also give them a local profile or something?

Either that or you can get software such as exclaimer which applies the signature from the server from templates and information pulled from AD. but if you don't have access to the server it might not be possible (I think you may be hosted at the LA?)

You can do some stuff with Transport Rules to add basic information into exchange. Exclaimer takes it a lot further in you can essentially wrap your emails in letterhead etc from it and it writes in back into the exchange sent items.

exclaimer is good but there have been issue with this on exch servers, not all , depends on env to env.

 

olk signatures stay local, the nearest you get will be a transport rule.

The problem I have is that each member of staff will have their own siggy - they may want to edit it as well.

 

I just dont understand why it will not load off the Exchange server - everything else does. WHy doesn't the signature synchronise?

Sorry, they wont sync, olk signatures are local and can be more complex to a simple siganture set say in owa.

Okay - I get that. So how can I get Outlook to save a sig without using psd files etc etc.

As said before, change your profiles or redirect app data.

Redirect will work, as mentioned by above, but you will have to play around if you specifically want only the signature to be available.
