wesleyw Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Are there any tools that can sift through a site and check if it stores cookies? Wes
3s-gtech Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Firefox with the View Cookies add-on is what I use (there are similar for Chrome too).
wesleyw Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) On my welcome page it states I have one cookie expires = session? How would I remove this? Wes Edited May 29, 2012 by wesleyw
sonofsanta Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Firefox, right click, Page Info, Security, View Cookies does it. Delete everything you see there at first, so none are in the list, then force a reload of the page (Ctrl + F5) and check again. Depending on what your cookie is for, you may not necessarily needto notify. Useful guidance here: http://www.international-chamber.co.uk/components/com_wordpress/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/icc_uk_cookie_guide.pdf (thanks to whomever it was on here that linked it in the first place) 1
DrPerceptron Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Sitebeam - A full insight into any website has an online service that'll just scan over your website (upto 10 pages for free) and let you know what it thinks about any cookies you're using etc. It has other services which are pretty cool too and worth checking out to produce a fancy presentation or report to SMT if you were that way inclined.

kravietz Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I've written a simple tool http://webcookies.info that will scan all cookies set by a website, classify them as third party, permanent and session. I needed this for EU directive compliance. Example for CNN.com: Cookies for http://cnn.com/ | WebCookies.info
Carnix Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I realize this thread is a little old, but I'm looking for a free tool that crawls a whole site and does what webcookies.info does. I've seen your site, kravietz (used it a lot, actually) and it's very useful, but what I really need is a tool that can crawl an entire site and compile a list of all cookies. The site I manage has thousands of pages, it's not feasible to enter URLs one by one... I could abuse your site and write a tool against a massive URL list and scrape the response data for review, but I won't do that to you Sitebeam doesn't appear to offer a free self-serve version anymore (at least I saw no mention of it, though I only looked fairly quickly). I don't want to deal with talking to sales people or doing demos. Ain't nobody got time fo that. Ghostery is not this sort of tool, it appears to be for scanning your system or browser, or is otherwise some sort of tool to protect yourself from tracking. The Attacat tool is *close* but I could only see 1st party cookies in their report information, and I need all cookies set. What I'm looking for is exactly what webcookies.info does, but across the the whole site (or even the first 25 or so detected pages, for that matter) that I can do self-service without having to talk to some sales clown to get a demo. Anyone have any suggestions?
