Email to FAX

Is there a way to send an email to be faxed and maybe have faxes come in and be sent to an email address? I was wondering if this was possible without an external service provider. Say a PC with a FAX MODEM in it? (I still have a few cards) and Im sure I could russtle up an old laptop with a modem.

winfax pro used to do this but is now long dead.

What you can actually do rather then email to fax is print to fax. Setup the computer with the fax printer and share this - get people to add the printer and they can print straight to fax. Incoming possible something like this

Also depending on your MFD's I think Ricoh ones can have a card put in to do it.

There are various services out on the internet that will accept email and translate it into a Fax. These all cost money of course. If you want to roll your own then a PC with a Fax modem will do the job however I think windows PCs can only cope with Print to Fax. I've seen Linux boxes setup with HylaFax accept email to fax though?

You will mind that many modern fax machines (MFP style) have this built in. Alternate is check your photocopier out it may also be able to do it.

Zeta fax is one system I see regularly, and as stated some MFP devices will act as a fax server.

Windows Fax and Scan is still hidden away with windows 7 but I gave up fighting and went with

Soho66 - Business VoIP | Fax Email | Business Telephony offer a reasonably priced service, you get a dedicated local telephone number to recieve faxes to your inbox and you have a non expiring PAYG credit to send outbound faxes.

No need to buy, rent or own a fax machine.
