reggiep Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I just noticed that the BBC website is streaming the whole Olympic Torch relay and thought it might be nice to have the stream on our XIBO screen in reception. The one problem is I can't work out how to do that? BBC - Olympic Torch Relay - Live Relay Anyone clever enough to work it out?
reggiep Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Well saying that I can find the code on the page to embed... but I can't work out how to autoplay it!
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Have you tried inserting: I see that is what they use to make the news channel autoplay - hopefully it will be the same player!
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Well saying that I can find the code on the page to embed... but I can't work out how to autoplay it! Can you get it to show up and play manually using this embed code? For me it just says content not available.
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Yes. it works fine. It seems to work for me.. but.. it takes about 5 minutes to load the SWF! Seems odd seeing as it does it on both our 100mb connection and 8mb connection. I haven't managed to get it to autoplay, though.
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 We got it working fine with the above It doesn't seem to like our connection, which is odd as it works fine when initiated from the Beeb's page. Did you get it to autoplay?
reggiep Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 No autoplay yet! I did try your suggestion Interwebsguy, I did look at our bbc news embed as well! Still no autoplay yet though.
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 No autoplay yet! I did try your suggestion Interwebsguy, I did look at our bbc news embed as well! Still no autoplay yet though. I wondered about changing it to and trying that. A lot of the params look like standard ones so you could strike it lucky. Seeing as it barely works for us in a timely fashion, I haven't attempted to try it!
InterwebsGuy Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) I am about to conclude that this isn't possible. BBC's Embedded Media Player doesn't seem to have any auto play options, and adding the video source to your own player such as JW Player doesn't work - I guess because it's expecting the request to come from their EMP! Edit: I've tried opening the source (http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/releases/worldwide/revisions/749603_749269_749444_3/749603_749269_749444_3_emp.swf) in quite a few media players and just get the content not working message. Seems it can't be done. I will be interested if anyone else gets it working as this will bug me! Edited May 21, 2012 by InterwebsGuy
FromSpace Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Hey, I seem to have found a way to make it auto play. So in the Seems to work for me! Edited May 28, 2012 by FromSpace 1
InterwebsGuy Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Seems to work for me - apart from there is no picture available on the feed at the moment. I can't believe I didn't try the param in that bit!
reggiep Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Does anybody have the complete code that would work that they could post here? Mine seems to have broken due to too much tinkering!
reggiep Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Thanks, I'd just found it again and was about to post it myself! Works fine as well. Brilliant. Just got to work out how to make in work with xibo.
JonWPS Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Do you think students and staff alike will be able to cope with the excitement of watching some nobody carrying a designer firelight? You don't want a riot on your hands.

Nothing loads get everything else apart from the feed. Thank you It won't load on Xibo for me either, it has just crashed the client on the machine. I embeded it in a simple web page and included that too. I don't know if it's not working because there doesn't seem to be any live feed at the moment? But anyway.. I've concluded life is too short for this - it was requested here if we could - but at the end of the day.. With xibo clients if you just load the webpage at http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/video/live.html you get a decent autoloading feed to display - just need silverlight installed on the client too.... hth... 1
reggiep Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 True for most of the event BUT the torch is going past our school, well reasonably close, so it was just going on for that really!
