Folder Redirection . . Again :(

So having finally got some form of folder redirection working Im now running into a minor but annoying issue.

 

I have some software deployed via Group Policy.

I am using mandatory profiles with the start menu and desktop redirected.

 

The redirections are working fine but Im also getting the icons from the group Policy installed software on the desktop.

 

It seems to be pulling these from the Default Profile and showing them alongside the redirected Desktop..

 

I could just remove them from the default profile but if i delpoy the software to all my machines then it could be a pain to remove all the icons after the software has installed.

Is there any Group Policy setting or reg hack that im missing to fix this?

The group policy preferences has a "Shortcuts" area which allows you to perform delete commands. Just remove the shortcut from the "Public Destop" i think it is named.

 

Else you could script it with a del command, or if the shortcuts area failes use "Files" and go directly to C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop

I actually saw it before your edit and used the files setting to remove everything from the public desktop folder using wildcards *.*

Yeh, I set that but then it broke my redirection and nothing worked.

It wouldnt re-direct start menu or desktop

 

Setting it back to not configured made it all work again
