zag Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Could anyone recommend a good Vga + hdmi faceplate? We are going to get our AV guys to standardise all the ports in classrooms soon and it would be nice to have an hdmi connection for the ipads.
AngryTechnician Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Personally I use the Sahara wall box kits with an HMDI module added, as the connections face downwards to reduce stress, but they are a bit on the big side for some people. This looks like a nice sturdy one if you want a single gang box.
Oaktech Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) we use these... Sahara Presentation Systems > Sahara Cable Kit 5m which mount flat to the wall and hang down so no-one walks into the plugs and snaps them off! dammit @AngryTechnician beat me to it! Edited April 27, 2012 by Oaktech
zag Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks, yeh I was wondering about facing down ports. Do the staff find that ok? Shame the normal faceplates have the composite and stereo connections always. I was hoping for a simple VGA/HDMI/Audio Jack faceplate.
Oaktech Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks, yeh I was wondering about facing down ports. Do the staff find that ok? The staff don't have a comment to make as we've made it clear that any problem they have comes through us. They don't touch it. Too many teachers have tried to ram a 3.5mm jack into the centre of an RCA phono.
AngryTechnician Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 All ours are desktops so they shouldn't need to touch the cabling. Anyone unscrewing projector cables here is liable to have screws applied to their thumbs. 1
zag Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Ahh we use teacher laptops so its a bit different.
plexer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 All of our projector connections are now done with the Vision Techconnect system Ben 1

Fleetwood Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 My NM's been using EuroNetwork for the past 3 years and he's not had any problems with them (whether it be delivery reliance or the quality of the plate itself) - give them a look if you haven't already made your mind up!
plexer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 That looks absolutely perfect! Inbuilt amp as well. Do you get a 3rd party company to install them? How much do they cost? Cost depends on which combination you go with, they have a basic module set or you can get a set with leads included or just the amp on it's own they also do projector control units that also clip in. Misco/Wstore supply them if I am fitting them myself or our AV installer supplies and fits as well. Ben
AngryTechnician Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 CPC supply the Vision TechConnect kit too. I've installed some of it here, especially the amps, and always used CPC as the supplier. The only reason I don't use more of it is due to preferring the downward facing ports on the Sahara boxes. Their amps are brilliant though, by wiring up the front and rear speakers in parallel we even get enough oomph out of them for our assembly hall! 1
bondbill2k2 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 We too use the Vision TechConnect and I'd recommend them too, not the cheapest but the amps are great neat units with their little remotes
