Job Description - IT Network Manager The Position: The Network Manager reports directly to the Bursar and manages the work of the IT Technicians. You will be responsible for the oversight of all IT operations, IT planning on a day to day basis, and making a significant contribution to long term planning. The Post-Holder will: • Have excellent and demonstrable IT skills over a range of specialisms • Be prepared take responsibility for their area of work and have the initiative to recognise and develop areas that need to be improved • Have a good eye for detail, a highly organised approach and be able to work under pressure • Have the ability and motivation to learn new skills and innovative technologies in a fast-moving environment • Be able to support the teaching faculty in developing resources • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people The Responsibilities: • Manage all IT operations and IT planning on a day to day basis, in conjunction with the Head and Deputy Head • Make a significant contribution to the strategic development of IT across the school as it relates to teaching and learning, working with the Head and SLT • Lead, advance and implement agreed IT strategies including the development and implementation of new, emerging and innovative technologies • Advise upon and implement IT policy including strategic advice and decision making on in/outsourcing of IT provisions • Lead and develop IT departmental staff and services including training and staff development • Ensure IT systems bind to the school’s aims and business processes • Compile reports as required for the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body • Manage budgets relating to the department which will require regular reports to the Bursar Keys Skills Required • Management of Microsoft infrastructure (Server/Client) Server 2003 Server 2008 Windows XP Windows 7 Pro • Exchange 2007 • IIS 7 • SQL Server 2008 • Experience of configuring complex Firewall rules • Handling of filtering policies on a managed device • Managed Wireless solution exposure • Active directory • Domain Group policies (Creation/Management) • Network infrastructure management Keys Skills Desirable • Management of VLE (Frog) within a secondary school environment • Exposure to a school MIS system (iSAMS) • Admissions/development/alumni management software package experience Conditions of Employment: • This is a full time position which attracts six weeks paid holiday per year normally taken during school holiday periods • The exigencies of the job mean the Network Manager will have to work some evenings or early mornings and occasional weekends this will be paid as over time or time in lieu may be taken in agreement with the Bursar or Head • A competitive starting salary and incremental pay increases • There is a contributory pension scheme which staff may join if they wish details are available from the School Accountant • Lunch is available free of charge during school term • Employees are eligible for reduced fees if their children attend the School • There will be a six months probationary period • The position is subject to enhanced CRB certification and satisfactory references being obtained PM me in the first instance NO AGENCIES PLEASE Thomas Edited April 20, 2012 by wickit
