Hi

I have a netbook that had a F4 recovery partition on it, which since i installed grub amongst other things, I have not been able to access since with the F4 key. Although I get the option to recover the F4 key doesnt take me to the recovery partition.

The partition seems to be there looking through Gparted but its just not functioning.

I am thinking its the MBR that needs rewriting??

Anyone any ideas?

gparted gives a series of flags, the current one selected is DIAG’

(MS-DOS) - Enable this to indicate that a partition can be used as a diagnostics / recovery partition.

Nothing for making it active that I can see.

Wondering if i can do this with diskpart, will have a go

Thanks

Hiya

Anyone know how to rebuild the MBR so that the F4 key will boot into the recovery partition?

Am still unable to do this.

Only think I can think of is to image the drive from another maybe?

Thanks.

If you have an indentical laptop, then use acronis to clone a known good image and then run the recovery command from there. Never used it before but im sure there is a fixboot or fixmbr command somewhere, but I usually opt for my first option :)
