jimmckenna Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hi, I am looking at implementing a campus wide managed wireless service. School Laptops to be used and for the first time offer students and staff the ability to BYOD. I am after some advice on both the technical set up that you may have and also any pitfalls that I should be aware of more for the BYOD element. Additionally, any school policies(again BYOD) that you have had to introduce. I suppose I am looking at all aspects and also if you are nearby to the Staffordshire area any chance of an invite to your school/college to discuss? Thanks in advance!!
chazzy2501 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) Yes we've sorted this problem out. School policy: don't BYOD. EDIT: that may have come off wrong, what I mean is that we discourage any cell phones laptops tablets as we don't want them used on site as we're responsible for it. if the devices are use to bully or illegal activites the school is going to get caught in the middle. It's hard or impossible to monitor what these devices are being used for. Edited March 21, 2012 by chazzy2501
Gibson335 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'd be interested to know what those who have Internet-only BYOD do about authenticating so as to use filtering and how they then address the issue of IP address availability. Cheers.
