Printer self deleting itself

Our main follow me printer keeps deleting on a weekly bases for no reason. Really clueless anyone had this before?

What printer is it and how are you deploying it to your network? What permissions are set on the printer (on the print server)?

Its a Toshiba virtual queue on paper cut. Permissions are set for domain admins full control and everyone print control. Being deployed with a script based on computer name.

Is it literally the printer being deleted or just the papercut woop-a-joop not deploying properly?

 

I think Windows likes to cause shenanigans with network printers. I remember hearing something about printers being auto-deleted if they're off for more than a certain length of time.

if its in a script does the script run correctly ? and does the pc name actualy apply the printer. as some deployment scripts have an area where all network printers are removed and then readded it might be worth checking that as well. also how often does your script run? it might be worth setting it every logon.

This script has been working fine with Windows 7 for the past 6 month. It literally only started a month ago out of the blue. The printer states its deleting on the server and when you delete all the jobs in the queue the printer fully deletes. It does not touch the paper cut printer at all. It has also happened too a few other printers.

We've had this happen twice now on just one printer.

 

Did you find a reason for this happening?

It is odd that the printer has started doing this. You could always look at deploying via GPO as a test. I haven't used scripts for deploying printers in years.
