Hi,

Does anyone know of any kind of system that we could use to tag iPads with, so that if they leave the room it will set off an alarm. Kind of like the security tags on products at store. I noticed that at apple store they are chained to the bench, would prefer a system where devices were still portable around the room.

Thanks

Only thing I can think of really are the sort of library/shop alarms where you tag the devices and have barriers at the door...

Yup the Library idea would be the best one - I'm fairly sure the book tags are not that expensive but the scanners can be.

Something like this

We used to have a tag system similar to the above and it became a 'mare - I guess it depends on what your kids are like - but ours took every opportunity to mess things up - the tags would be removed and stuffed into the lining of other students clothes, into their bags, one was even superglued to the detectors causing them to alarm all the time - in the end, they were going off so often that no one took any notice of them - which kind of defeated the purpose...

Agree with the previous comment....the problem is your trying to limit the movement of a device designed to be taken anywhere.

If you could place a RFID tag inside the device then this would work....but I do not think you can do this...the chains are looking good.

Tricky.. there may be a way but it would depend on the specifics of the iPads involved.

It is possible to prevent apps from being deleted [iOS 4.2.1 and up], on board GPS could be used

to create a virtual fence alarm or in the event the ipad leaves the area of the Access Point(s)

assigned to it then the ipad itself starts screaming for help.
