I dont see many 16 core alternatives.

I have some 12 core examples and 8 core.

Search results for HP DL165 G7 - Misco.co.uk

 

The 12 core DL165's look more expensive than the DL385's at a glance, I will see why that is when I get a minute.

 

With 35 clients, which will mostly be using KS1 software, i may am wondering if i would need to go for 2 x12 core cpu's or just the 2 x8 cores?

I dont see many 16 core alternatives.

I think it will be a few more weeks until we see servers with the latest Xeon E5 processors.

In speaking with suppliers we have about 2 months before HP will be shipping Gen8 to the UK - all of which I would guess are to the big guys leaving us probably at the 3-4 month wait period.
