Free, Copyright free, Royalty Free pics for schools

I have first graders creating online books. They draw their own pics, take pictures, and grab a few from the Internet. But as teachers look into 'publishing' these books or making them available on a classroom website, I worry about copyright laws. Ideally there would be a service as easy to use and as deep in content as google image searches.. but with free, copyfree images.

 

Any ideas? Are most of you concerned that on a 1st grade website there may be a link to little Johnny's book, which on page 3 has a picture from another website?
