@Sivadam yer, simple thanks to you. Much better then what the helpdesk said - they said would have to use the report engine!!

@vikpaw once you've entered your password, change the web address to The page cannot be found - worked for me yesterday. And no, no more info

Did you see what the URL auto resolved to?!

It's funny that you have an "a" prefixed to 'user' and 'home.asp' , aside from that, i'm getting to that page and it's saying that the page is incorrect.

where's @PhilNeal when you need him?

A further delay in releasing the Updated Spring Release due to another Support Case.

One wonders if it is 'owt to do with mine ..........

[19/03/12] - This requires an Application Fix, which will be included in Spring 2012 re-release.

All messages of thanks will be gratiously accepted! http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newforum/images/smiley1.gif

Most of you guys shouldn't get the issue now!

So it may have been me that delayed the re-issue!

What was the issue? (pulls out a sharp stick).

This is an excellent example of why SIMS Direct Schools and SupportDesks should be able to 'talk' to each other on SupportNet Forums! We could be 'mutually supportive'!

The issue was also reported by another school - possibly just before I did - their data went in on Wednesday and mine at 7.00am Thursday!

Issue:-

[TD="class: tabletext, bgcolor: #fafafa"]Two Science Teachers marking a Double Lesson Register last week, in the same lesson. This brought up an error screen with a big red cross over the Lesson Register and a crash out of SIMS. This was the same when the Attendance Officer, or myself, tried to 'Take Register'. Fortunately we could mark the Class Register via 'Edit Marks' routine. Both Classes had a pupil withdraw to an AC Intervention Group, one Class in the first part of the double and one in the second part of the double.
Strangely, we tried the same classes for this week and the Class Registers were available! The offending lessons were actually live during the deployment of the Spring Release, but I don't know if this affected things!
It may be that this Case caused the delay of the Spring re-release or it may just be coincidence!

Cheers

One wonders what you guys charge your Customers by the hour........! Maybe I should start and send you an Invoice!

What with the help I give you directly, and now on here, I reckon I could earn a fortune!

Told you that you should employ me to work from Home for a couple of days a week....... to support your Support Team! http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newforum/images/smiley2.gif

Then again, if I left here - I'd fall behind very quickly!

SIMS 2012 Spring Update Release - Now Available

Dear Colleagues,

Following the withdrawal of the SIMS 2012 Spring release on the 12th of March, I am pleased to say the SIMS 2012 Spring Update Release (version 7.144.36) is now available.

It resolves issues in the following areas:

Statutory returns: Census returns now correctly stop users from using an older (pre version 100) of the census filesets.

Assessment: Marksheets will no longer remove students from the marksheet when the delete key is pressed on a cell.

CTF: Free School Meals. Partial CTFs imported will no longer overwrite ethnicity when imported for pre-admission groups.

CTF: School history is now correctly brought in for pre-admissions groups.

Exams: Exam entries / amendments for individual External candidates when entered via the Entries and forecast tab in Focus | Candidates | External can now be saved.

Take Register: Schools using a double period, two teacher and two room combination will now be able to take the register.

The software has been made available for Support Units to deploy via SOLUS 2 and SOLUS3 to their schools. These schools will be notified when they are authorised to install it.

It is very important if you are a Support Unit, with a Mirror Server, that you have all the files present on your server. Please check that all the files are present, using the spreadsheet which can be found at: >

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by the re-issuing of the SIMS 2012 Spring release. If you have any questions please feel free to email me on @capita.co.uk

Regards,

Jonathan Wood

SIMS Product Manager (Technical and Releases)

Thanks Matt.

I reckon I beat you to that by 38 minutes! I obviously couldn't be bothered with the details as it had been on SupportNet for a while before then! :)

Hi

In the past, I have endeavoured to install SOLUS 3 and hence SIMS to ALL workstations across the school site. This has been handy when Teachers wanted to do some SIMS training in a classroom, etc. however, whenever I wish to roll-out the next deployment I am having to send it to all workstations at the same time (and cause havoc in some areas). Does anyone know of a way, if possible, to deploy the updates to targeted workstations in order that I can do the update on a phased-basis?

Thanks

Graeme

If you deploy it once, and it fails on machines, you can then redeploy to selected workstations. You cannot however limit the first attempt, as you would be basically dooming them to fail and I don't think Capita likes that idea. Although it might be nice to ensure the key staff get updated first, like the person who's doing the salaries :D

Can't think of any way of doing it other then maybe deploying it late at night, then redeploying in sections, but the workstations SHOULD upgrade when they come back online, so that's not really the solution.

SOLUS3 should also limit the co-current "deployment" - by deployment I mean people downloading stuff - so it shouldn't affect network traffic.

Who....? http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newforum/images/smiley5.gif

One wonders if that's the guy you only reply to indirectly!!!!!!! :p !!!

!!!

LOL! The guy on here who posts between our posts and is currently running "SIMS v7.138"

I thought they supported two previous releases, not just current and previous. I'm not counting the two Spring's as separate.

So I tried SOLUS this morning and I've still got Autumn 4th release (FEES) and FMS 7.142 sat there plus half a dozen patches. I can't call 'em to release the new one cos technically I'm not supported!

I thought new releases would automagically appear :( HELP
