Non - LA ISP Recommend Me

Whose moved away from the LA, please recommend or (curse) your new ISP. More interested in level of service than price here btw.

 

 

 

 

 

 

(and please no patronising explanations of how the internet or a router works, or that I will need to implement filtering)

We haven't made the move yet but a large majority of the schools we know are looking very favourably at Schools Broadband (TalkStraight) who so far have been very forthcoming with any information required, more than happy to demo any separate part of the service they provide - which for a very reasonable price comes with some nice carrots - enough external IP's to shake a stick at (Ripe depending) and a VPN system which is all part and parcel. Fortigate protection and filtering. It'll be worth getting them in for a chat.

We're with Vaioni who've worked well for us, great speed, good customer service when I've needed it, much less downtime than I ever saw on the LA, and I know you said you weren't bothered but they are good value for money as well - which has to figure in at some point.

That company however proved their lack of trustworthiness on the EMBC forum a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully a "rogue salesperson" but still makes you question any legibility they have in the marketplace.

We have Global AXs, level fo service, well when I have needed to contact them it has been excellent. I have only contacted them before the installation and once with a problem though, no problems means no contact so its hard to judge there service.

The connection itself has been stable, only 1 short problem (lasted 2 hours). We have 100mb on 100mb

For Vaioni (apparent dodgy sales reps aside) the service has been great - very helpful in the set up stage when I left far too much to the last minute and very helpful when we've noticed incoming bad traffic. I'm happy, anyway, and I'm a grump.

Met one of the chaps from M247/Global AXS on Thursday on one of our partner training courses - they seem a nice bunch of chaps, and they have definitely got some good filtering oiptions now they were telling me they can get some pretty decent prices (I think they were sore that we use Metronet-uk @ Smoothie Leeds!)

You say the nicest things ! It was great to spend a couple of days with the Smoothwall guys in Southampton and thinking about how to get the most out of Smoothwalls within our network.

 

I must admit I was left a little head numb after it all but certainly got me thinking and looking forward to some great stuff ahead.

We've just this week placed an order with GlobalAXS after some great recommendations, very helpful during the ordering process and ended up with a great deal that beat our other quotes. Looking forward to getting it all sorted as soon as possible now!

We use those guys but BT seem to be having problems activating out line. Plus our Smoothie Device.

Service couldn't be better.

We had 30Mb on 100 bearer with ADSL failover.

We've signed up with GlobalAXS although are not connected yet as we are arguing with BT over the cost of installing the Fibre. Service so have as been excellent and the pricing wasn't beatable by anyone.

There was a school near here who had to wait 2 months extra to have there fibre put in, for a great reason...

 

There was a car parked over the manhole everytime the BT engineers went to install the fibre and they weren't allowed to ask the owner to move it so they just had to keep going back till it wasn't there and send the owner a letter (though this took longer to sort out then the luck of it not being there one day). BT are geniuses.
