Hello all,

I came across a strange problem with a Toshiba A300 notebook I thought I'd share, as this is quite a popular notebook in schools.

When this notebook is installed with Windows 7, intermittently the notebook will appear to freeze, but it's in fact the keyboard and mouse that will stop working. The notebook also appears to drop from a high resolution to a lower resolution.

Reboot the notebook and it works absolutely fine. Reboot the notebook a second time and the above problems re-appear.

By flashing the BIOS to the latest version 4.20, this resolves this issue and also stops the event logs filling with errors. The BIOS utility can be run from Windows itself, so it's not difficult to do.

I hope this helps someone else :)

I've just done aq BIOS upgrade on an A300, the latest BIOS available to download from Toshiba was 2.20?

Also, I'm not sure if I trust a piece of software to flash the BIOS that uses Comic Sans!!
