Question regarding screensavers

Hi guys,

 

One of our schools would like to name their PCs after different trees, and then have the login screen desktop background and screensaver for all users including when PC is not logged on, display that name.

 

Running XP machines and Server 2003, with an AD domain, and mandatory profiles.

 

Anyone have any idea of how to do this?

The login screen and desktop background can be done using bginfo (See this thread amongst others), but as for the screensaver, I'll have to leave that to someone else

to change the screensaver that is displayed on logon place the require screensaver in the c:\windows\system32 folder then open regedit and go to hkey_users\.default\control panel\desktop then in the desktop one there is one that says scrnsave.exe just change the value of that to the name of the exe (eg:edugeek.scr) the standard one is logon.scr which is the xp logo bouncing around the screen. Hope that helps.

I know..thread from the past...but thought I would resurrect this thread rather than create a new one!

 

Is there anyway of completely disabling the "logon" screensaver, so that if the computer stays at the login screen long enough, it doesn't go into screensaver, it just stays with the login screen visible

 

Oh, and the easy way if possible...not editing registry's on all computers!!
