Can't install Windows 7 any ideas?

Hey guys, im new to the Forums. My name is Lewis pretty much the title says it all. My problem is i have created a Windows 7 disk well I've made multiple disks. One is Windows 7 Pro x64 which i got from my Dream-spark subscription. The 2ND is Windows 7 universal which has all editions except enterprise which was made by removing the ei file from the sources folder. The 3rd is windows 7 Pro x32. My problem is with the universal disk is it causes my computer to Blue Screen, the x64 and x32 cause the instillation to freeze once it starts expanding files. I am currently running Windows XP x32 which i got from Dream-spark which installed without a hitch. I use to have Windows 7 installed but removed due to being fussy. Now i would like to install it again but can't seem to get close ha-ha.

 

My specs are below.

 

AMD X2 4200

4GB RAM

512MB ATI Radeon HD 4300

500GB Western Digital HDD

Windows XP SP3

Sorry can't remember the motherboard serial but it's made my Micro-star.

Run mem test looking around it seems to be a faulty ram stick. Also try run the installation from a memory stick. Make a bootable one with the program "wintoflash" . Might rule out a problem with your optical drive.

also try running the install from an external dvd drive, as i've had a problem with an install going pear shaped when it tries to replace the DVD driver for the drive its using to copy the files from!

Thanks for all the replies guy's. As soon as i am home i will create a bootable USB stick and see if i have any luck that way. You say about the dvd drive i think you could be correct as im pretty sure I've had this before when trying to install windows it can't find the drivers for the DVD drive. I will try a external one as well. I have got a IDE one i could also try but last time it just got stuck on windows is starting.

you might want to flash the bios of the motherboard just in case they have added win 7 support

 

yes create a bootable win 7 usb stick gets you out of trouble sometimes

 

also check in the bios as some boards i have have a selection for the os you are using

Thanks for your message , the bios is updated due to me doing this a few weeks ago maybe months but i will check for a new update. Yes i will create a USB disk and run mem test but i have tried installing with multiple ram sticks to make sure but didn't really make a difference. So i will try all the suggestions mentioned in this thread as soon as im home

Just a quick update, the problem was bad memory which has now been isolated from my computer and windows 7 x64 is now installed. Only 2GB now so will have to go out and buy another 2GB otherwise 64bit is a bit pointless. Anyways thanks for all your help

Haha not a problem, i thought i should post a update as you guys took the time to reply so . Just need to buy some new ram not a biggie.
