teejay Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks BBC, I now have a blinding headache, please take whoever decided your new design sports pages must be YELLOW outside and shoot them.
yugo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 At least the mobile site only has it at the top. BBC Sport - Sport
rich_tech Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Seems a common complaint, that yellow makes my eyes bleed too BBC - Sport Editors: Changes to the BBC Sport website
shenley Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 It's only part of a much wider complaint about the entire redesign of the BBC website BBC - Points Of View Messageboard - The BBC - The new BBC website The BBC designers (and don't forget they are employed by Joe Public) setup blogs so that users could leave feedback, and after being inundated wit complaints, closed the blogs; that is basically stuck their fingers in their ears and said "la la la, we're not listening". Prior to the release, there was a beta mock up, about which people commented and pointed out how the redesign was a step backwards from the old site, but none of the points raised were acted upon. The general feeling amongst the users is that the new site is designed for finger-swipers rather than keyboard or mouse users. What is more interesting, is that after the new site went live enterprising users found ways to access the old site and posted links. These sites were quickly taken down with a comment that they were going to be taken down anyway. As I recall, the main complaints are : the colours users can no longer customise the site for their location the lack of detail on the weather site nobody cares about what others are watching (the bottom left corner is useless) you have to scroll to much unless you have a 42" monitor the clock displayed gets the time from your PC not the server (great for checking if your time is correct)
CESIL Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I just visited the site for the first time in years and can't see much wrong with it...unless they have already changed it again?
aerospacemango Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 It is, without doubt, the worst "update" to a site that I have experienced. It seems like someone has vomited all over my screen, and mixed in some letters! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!! (And I've told them that too....Not that they'll listen!!)
aerospacemango Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "It looks great on an Ipad" ... But can you play the video content on your iPad? (That's not actually a dig at Apple, but at the BBC, as there are lots of annoyed Apple owners who say it STILL doesn't work for them!)
sparkeh Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 My God that is dreadful. Seems like another step of the BBC driving visitors away from its site with awful design.
RabbieBurns Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 But can you play the video content on your iPad? (That's not actually a dig at Apple, but at the BBC, as there are lots of annoyed Apple owners who say it STILL doesn't work for them!) I dont have an ipad!! I was being ironic 1
